The Hobbit Book Review Essay Example For Students

The Hobbit: Book Review Essay IntroductionThe book I read and analyzed was The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein. I shall discuss the plot and character development, setting, authors style and my opinions about it.Plot DevelopmentThere are too many characters in the story and so it is hard to follow and know each one of them. (There are many dwarves and its confusing. )In the beginning there is an introduction where the author tells a bit about what is a hobbit and the hobbits (Bilbo) family. It is not very complicated and the author makes it easy to understand. This introduction gives the general background, which makes the story easier to understand, for the plot and its development. The plot development in the middle is not complicated and easy to follow. It can even be summarized in a few sentences. The ending is expected since the author gives hints about it. As in the introduction when he says that the hobbit would gain something, this means that he will not die. Then, the reader is not kept in suspense and does not expect to see what happens at the end. The last climax (or what is supposed to be the climax) takes a long time to occur (the last fightgood (men, elves, dwarves ; eagles) vs. evil (wargs ; goblins)) and this reduces its effectiveness. After the climax there is the long return home. It is quite boring since there is nothing to expect to and the reader knows that the hobbit would get home safely. In my opinion it should have been shorter.Character DevelopmentThe creation of the characters is done by their dialogues and monologues, actions and things noted by the narrator (the author in this case) himself. An example for dialogue: All the same, I should like it all plain and clear, also I should like to know about risks, out-of-pocket expenses.. . (by Bilbo, page 22, it shows that he is not ready to jump into things so quickly). An example for a monologue: Now is the time for our esteemed Mr. Baggins, who has proved himself. .. (by Thorin, page 210, it shows Thorins style). A good example for action is when Thorin blocked the Gate in the mountain that shows the reader that the treasure is important to Thorin and he rather die than giving it away. An example for notes by the author: You are familiar with Thorins style on important occasions (page 210) the author talks directly to the reader and helps him understand the text. Each character has a physical description. The length and content of the description increase as the character importance to the plot increases (e.g., the hobbit has very long descriptions in the story (especially in the introduction) and the Elvenking has fewer descriptions). The more important characters get an emotional description too, but it is not well seen, but it can be extracted from the text by analyzing it. The example I gave before about Bilbo not rushing into things is a good example for this too.The central figure is the hobbit, Bilbo. He is the one that makes many things occur by his mistakes and luck. The author gives long descriptions of him and refers to him a lot, he also made him save his companions life and without him the plot would not have been the same. The supporting cast is divided into the more important characters (such as the dwarves and Gandalf) into less important and less described ones (such as the elf guards that caught the party in the woods). It is hard to believe that the characters can exist in reality since they cannot, and they are not supposed to since it is a fantasy book.SettingThe story occurs in the imaginary worldMiddle-earthcreated by the author, it is appropriate since creatures that are found in the book (e. .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d , .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .postImageUrl , .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d , .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:hover , .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:visited , .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:active { border:0!important; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:active , .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ucaace9807726fd1c4290886c20a5157d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: American revolutionary war 2 Essayg., goblins and dwarves) do not exist in our world.Since the story happens in many places over Middle-earth the author gives a deep description only in places where important things to the plot happen but in other places he gives a more general description. Most places make the reader have a picture in his brain of them, the author uses the appropriate words and gives good descriptions. It takes the story about a year to occur. It starts at the spring and ends in about the same time the year after. Parts of the story take place in every time of the day (and night). The mood is of fantasy world, where everything (like magic and huge treasures) can appear and happen. Authors StyleThe words used in the book are not very complicated, but there are some words that are not longer in use, or used just in poets (such as ere in some dialogues). The style in which the dialogues are written depends on who is talking and when (e.g., when the Elvenking talked to Thorin he did not treat him with respect (because elves hated dwarves) and so did Thorin because he was offended with his captivation). There was no suspense in the story, because of the author that destroyed it right at the beginning and with his hints all over the story, saying that the hobbit and his friends would win and get what they wanted. At the end it was clear that the good people are going to win the battle against the evil. The plot is not very complicated and it can be summarized by one paragraph or something like this.Critics ChoiceAlthough I like fantasy style, I did not really like this book. The book was the worst fantasy book I ever read, although I know that the author is considered to be one of the people that gave the fantasy style a great push.Even though the book is well written there are some faults that make it boring and uninteresting (such as the lack of suspense that I already discussed before). Comparing this book to the Dragon Lance series and especially the first, original ones, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman the Dragon Lance is much better. For this book to be more interesting some changes need to be made, like dropping all the notes that the author puts in about the characters. These notes that reduced the suspense made the book very boring and I even fell asleep once reading it. If you want to read a fantasy book, you should skip this one and read a book of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman that are better authors.

Importance of Being Aware of Your Limits With Unique Cause and Effect Research Paper Topics

Importance of Being Aware of Your Limits With Unique Cause and Effect Research Paper TopicsOne of the topics that students often ask about when writing a research paper is whether or not there are any ideas that would be able to help them with their topics. One of the biggest questions they have about research papers is whether or not they should include ideas from unique cause and effect research paper topics. This article will focus on this issue and help you determine whether or not you should include unique cause and effect ideas in your research paper. While it's true that some ideas can help you with your topic, there are many that cannot help you at all. It is important to realize that there are many ideas that do not work for you.In addition to that, unique cause and effect research paper topics may also not work well for you. In fact, it's important to remember that they are basically random ideas that could work for you. While these might be valid ideas, it's important to kn ow that they're not going to help you much. If you're going to have an idea that involves randomness then you must be prepared to work with the idea when you're writing your paper. What's even more frustrating about having ideas that aren't going to help you is that your idea might actually be impossible to create. Even if you have good knowledge about topics that work well in science, you may find that your idea is too 'odd' to be made into a real study. That's why it's so important to understand that there are many ideas that can help you with your paper, but just because a specific idea works for one person doesn't mean that it will work for you. This is why it's important to look for ideas from unique cause and effect research paper topics that may help you with your topic. Not only can you use ideas from these topics, but you can also use the ideas from other sources. If you're looking for ideas for your topic then you can always look to other people to see what they're doing, as well as what they're using. For example, when you're looking for ideas from cause and effect research paper topics, it might be worthwhile to check out the ideas that they have used to help them with their subjects. Sometimes you can see these ideas that others have come up with before. For example, the ideas that people come up with for their topic of fiction writing may come from popular novels written by famous authors. When you're looking for ideas for your subject, you can also look to other people to help you with your topic, and if you use ideas from a popular novel, then you can take some of the ideas that were included in the novel and apply them to your own topic. In addition to that, you can also take ideas from more unconventional sources. When you're researching unique cause and effect research paper topics, it's important to remember that the ideas from others might help you as well. The great thing about studying from other sources is that the information can often be f ree, and it also helps when you're dealing with specific subjects that might be difficult to deal with on your own. In order to make sure that you're truly getting ideas from original sources, it's important to be aware of your limitations, and you should always take into consideration that your limits might be different than others.

World War One Origins Essay Topics

World War One Origins Essay TopicsHistory teachers are always in need of World War 1 origins essay topics. Students at the end of the year may have had a great deal of history and now they want to write their papers as a way of sharing what they have learned. Teaching your students about a wide range of interesting and sometimes controversial topics is one of the ways that you can keep them interested and engaged with their studies. Here are just a few of the many possible historical facts that you can explore with your students. If your students have ever wondered why Winston Churchill had to bail out his government in the aftermath of the First World War, you can explain to them that it was due to the influence of another leader, Sir Edward Grey. Grey may not have been an entirely pleasant character, but he did have his supporters in high places and he is often referred to as the 'Iron Chancellor'. He was instrumental in keeping Britain out of the Second World War and saved millions of lives in the process.Students who have loved learning about the Battle of the Somme will be fascinated by learning more about how the British Army came to beat the Germans. It's not often taught in history classes, but in World War One origins you can explain that the British Army didn't have enough artillery or tanks to hold off the Germans, and so they used the tactic of sending in the Stirling tanks, which were faster and much easier to use than anything else on the battlefield. Why didn't the British leave Ireland when the country voted against them in the nineteenth century referendum? In World War One origins you can tell your students that, while there were many arguments in the campaign, particularly among Irish nationalists, the British Army allowed the Republic of Ireland to retain most of its sovereignty. To explain this, you can ask your students to read up on the events leading up to the referendum, such as the anti-Irish propaganda that was used and the recent scand al surrounding President Mary McAleese, who was under investigation for her links to a far-right group. There will also be time to discuss the issues surrounding the surrender and subsequent liberation of the island and whether the British got exactly what they wanted from the event.World War One origins will also be able to explain why there was such a strong military culture in the British Empire. There was a belief that the British Empire was somehow exempt from the instability that could strike other countries, and that was made even more true by the way that British troops and generals had kept order and created a sense of order in the Far East, a far cry from the chaotic social climate in Germany in 1918. There will also be time to explain the fact that there were also huge economic benefits to the British and their colonies, including Hong Kong and Australia.A final topic for World War One origins is that of the Battle of the Somme. With so many people from all around the wor ld fighting in the conflict, the British Army had to cope with many different languages and cultures. Of course, many of these soldiers would speak their native language in battle, but there were others who spoke a form of French, Polish or German who also spoke English. If you have children studying World War I origins then these are just a few of the many ideas that you can share with them. Keep your students up to date on the latest in world history by researching World War One origins topics, and let them know that this is a fascinating time in history.

Should My Academic Paper Be Organized Around Topics? (The Answer Is Simple)

Should My Academic Paper Be Organized Around Topics? (The Answer Is Simple)'Should my academic essay be organized around topics?' It's a question that I've been asked on my blog numerous times, and it comes up for all manner of reasons. From 'I just need one good topic' to 'My purpose is to write an essay,' to 'I'm not sure where to start' to 'I'm so tired of studying,' there are just as many reasons to organize an essay around topics. In this article, I will outline three ways that you can organize your topic to make it easier to read, use, and understand. For those that haven't used an organization method yet, this is the first one that comes to mind. By starting the outline at the beginning and then moving to the end of the essay, you will be able to read the essay quickly and easily. Or, if you're looking for some more organization, make your subject the first item on the list, followed by the specific paragraph that will make it easy to read. When you're writing about something y ou know a little about, you'll be able to break it down into shorter, more digestible paragraphs, allowing you to move from the point quickly. While an organized topic is great for an essay review, in real life, the topics most often given are going to be found in the main body of the essay. If you're looking for topics for your essay review, make sure that your topics are connected in some way or another. Otherwise, you may be looking at things you don't understand, and this can actually make it harder to do your essay review.A third way to organize a topic in your writing is to include it on every page of your essay. This isn't always necessary, but if you want your topics to flow, use this method. If you're looking for a general purpose essay, this is a good way to make it easier to read and make sure that you're following the direction of the essay. One final way to organize your topics in your review of the paper is to give them a page number. When you take a look at your text, y ou will be able to refer back to the place you found it and find what you need easily. The last thing you want is to go back and re-read your essay because you were unable to follow it on a page you found.Overall, if you want to make sure that you're reviewing an essay on the topic and that you're reviewing on topic with essays as well, you should organize your topics and the materials that you have to base your thesis on. It will make things easier to read, it will make it easier to use, and it will make it easier to understand. Once you've finished reviewing the work, you should review the organization methods that you've used.Is the review of your paper structured around topics? How do you organize your topic? Find out more in today's lesson.Review this lesson: Organizing An Essay Around Topics. Learn: The Three Ways To Organize Your Topics. Success!
